Lab Summer Party in June 2026

In June, we enjoyed our lab summer party, which brought the team together outside the usual lab environment. It was a nice opportunity to relax, celebrate recent achievements, and spend time together in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

New Publication and Farewell to Our Graduating Master’s Student (June 2026):

We are pleased to announce the publication of our new article in Methods. In this study, we present a robust and step-by-step protocol for turtle brain fixation based on perfusion through the common carotid arteries. This approach addresses important anatomical and technical challenges associated with conventional transcardial perfusion in turtles and enables rapid, homogeneous fixation of the brain. The protocol was validated across multiple imaging scales and modalities, including magnetic resonance imaging, immunohistochemistry, label-free stimulated Raman histology, and super-resolution STED microscopy. By preserving both whole-brain morphology and fine neuronal structures, this method provides a valuable framework for comparative and evolutionary neuroscience studies using turtles as an animal model.

We also said goodbye to our graduating Master’s student, Abdul Basit, who successfully completed his work in the lab. We are grateful for his contribution, commitment, and the time he spent with us, and we wish him all the best for the next steps in his scientific and professional journey.
